Simon Barrow (UK)
Simon Barrow, Creator of the Employer Brand –aiming to bring the best of brand management to people at work.
Simon’s EB thinking was triggered when his Brand Management experience with Knorr (now owned by Unilever) and then Colgate-Palmolive came face to face with his later role as a line manager. While the term ”Employer Brand” gets over 7m Google results and EB roles are widespread, he believes that the current multiple challenges facing the management of people needs the EB to match the long standing influence of product brand management and also become the same springboard to senior management.
Simon was Founder and Chairman of the employer brand consultancy People in Business (PiB) which he sold to a private equity owned US group. He left in 2012 to become an independent consultant on EB and M&A (a torture test for any brand). He is a global speaker on this work.
Publications include being co author of the first paper on the EB, in the Journal of Brand Management, 2001,‘The Employer Brand’ Wiley 2005. ‘Communications in M&A’. In 2017 He wrote a book of poems ‘Humanity at Work – the soft stuff is the hard bit’ about actual incidents he will never forget.
Education included an Exchange Scholarship year in the US followed by University of Oxford (Christ Church)
He and his family live near Woodbridge in Suffolk UK
